From all my previous posts of my model kits you would think that I only do figures! well, that is actually wrong. My first love has been and always will be mecha. And when you mention mecha, one has to mention mobile suit gundam!!!
So anyways, Here is a quick overview of all my completed gundam kits at present. I still have a few more but they aren’t built yet. Click on the pics for bigger versions
Quite a few, right? well, this is the result of almost 7 years of collecting (I say as though it’s a valid excuse…). Close ups and breakdown of kits after the jump!
So, I have joined the ranks of (not so) proud Xbox 360 owners and within 2 weeks, I have also joined the ranks of 360 owners who needed to get their system replaced…
Yay for Microsoft and their shoddy manufacturing. Looks like i’ll need to go back to the retailers to get a replacement but at least I got off light with just 1 console and a disk scratching issue.
Spare some thought for this poor sap who has gone through 12 Systems since it’s release a year and a half ago!!!
The wierdest thing is, the guy says he’s STILL a fan of the system. Now that is something…
suddenly the PS3 looks so much more enticing.
Oh, and for those mildly interested, yes, I will still be sticking with the 360 for a little while longer. My Xbox live gamertag is “gundamjehutykai”
Feel free to try and find me and add me to your friend list. I suck but I’ll be more than willing to go a few rounds with ppl.
gah, my limited Japanese is getting rusty. In any case, here is one of my personal fave kits in my possession, Kazami Mizuho from Onegai Teacher!
There are quite a lot of kits of this character, both in PVC and resin flavours but most tend to focus on her more sexy side. Nothing wrong with that but I prefer the more demure teacher look she had over a provocative lying down pose which she never actually did in the anime…
Thus, when I found out that kotobukiya were doing a re release of this kit a while back, I instantly snapped it up! This kit also has the honour of being my last hand painted kit. After this one, I bought myself a small airbrush and compressor for my future kits. Maybe I should go back and repaint this one…

Again, I’m sorry about the quality of the pics. They do get better, Honest!!
Famitsu have posted some full body pics of the new gundam units appearing in Gundam00 as well as a look at the model kits that will accompany the show.

From the top left clockwise, we have Gundam Exia, Dynames, Kyrios and Virtue. Personally, these designs have left me a little cold. The heads and limbs are fine, even the virtue thunderthighs don’t bother me much but the chests…
Only Kyrios gundam seems to have a more regular design. I’m sure ppl out there really like them but something about those round sections bother me. But at least these won’t be accused of simply ripping off old designs and will be far less controversial than turn A. Guess I’ll have to see them moving to see if they can sway my opinion.
And here are the art pics and famitsu link, after the jump… Read the rest of this entry »
So, the transformers comics signing was today and I nearly missed it!!! I’m usually too damn tired on the weekends to do stuff before 1pm but this time, I made that extra effort and it was worth it!!!
The signing lasted almost an hour longer than was planned but nobody seemed to mind. The guests were a real friendly bunch and were a laugh to talk to. I got my copies of the IDW stormbringer release signed and a little something extra…
Nick Roche was kind enough to do sketches for people who came to the signing! Unfortunately, lots of people asked for optimus prime (my first choice) and since I’m not one to follow a trend, I opted for a different sketch…

Yup, I got STARSCREAM!!!
Finally managed to dig out some pics of older model kits so ppl can see how much better (or worse) I have become over the years.
First up, we have Jam Kuradoberi from Guilty Gear X (and it’s numerous revisions). There was actually a very nice coldcast kit of the same model available but I didn’t like some bits of the colour scheme so I decided to paint my own.

This was one of my very first kits and it probably shows. Back then, I painted all my kits by hand (no airbrush for me) so there were many issues I needed to overcome, such as visible brush marks on larger surfaces. Still, I do look back rather fondly on this kit, being one of my earliest works. I hadn’t even developed any skills with the camera at this point so even the photos suck!! Apologies everyone!!
For those curious about my edits in the colour scheme, originally, the right arm was completely covered in a black glove which went all the way to the shoulder and also covered the cleavage. I wasn’t having any of that so I painted the dress so the cleavage was more exposed and painted it as though the glove was never there. I prefer it that way but here’s a pic of the original for those interested
Not sure what good posting this in a completely new and unestablished blog is going to do but here goes…
Orbital Manga will be holding a signing next Saturday, the 9th of June with members of IDW (you know, the guys publishing the current load of transformers comics).
Guests will be Chris Ryall (the editor in chief) Nick Roche and Simon Furman so if you want to get your transformers stuff signed and whatnot, head over to Orbital Manga next week!!
The signing will take place between 12 and 1pm and in case you don’t know where the shop is, here’s the address,
4C Orion House, Upper St Martin’s Lane. WC2H 9NY. Google maps can help out with the rest!!
Bit late but I’ve been out all day. In any case, The next Gundam tv series has been announced as Gundam 00 (pronounced Double 0)
The promo can probably be found on youtube by now and various other blogs have written stuff up so I won’t dwell on it.
Personally, I’m feeling somewhat indifferent to the whole thing since the last 2 series didn’t really impress me much (Less said about destiny, the better and stargazer was ok but not great). Nevertheless, I will watch this when it airs in October based purely on the fact that it has mecha in it. (yes, I can be very shallow at times…)
